By Catarina King, co-founder Society1.
Christina has recently joined Society1. We met her a while ago through a local freelance Community group called the CWS Creatives (Coffee Work Sleep Creatives), who have been hosting their in person meet ups at Society1, they haven’t been able to do this recently due to COVID, but we are looking forward to when they can again soon.
Christina wanted a place to come, on an ad hoc basis, to get some admin done in between being out and about on shoots and working with clients. Christina has been passionate about photography since she was young. I love how she put’s it. ‘She is fascinated by capturing that specific moment in time and those moments that will never come again.’ What a wonderful thing to be able to do!
I caught up with Christina to find out about what she has been working on recently:
Society1: Tell us a bit about you and your business?
Christina: My name is Christina and run Fish 2 Photography. I specialise in working with small local businesses helping with branding, content, product, event and interior photography. Bringing their business personality and products to the forefront to help show customers who they are and what they do.
I started the business in 2008 and I also do personality driven wedding and family photography.
Photography is the first thing your clients see whether on your website or your social media and printed materials. It’s important that it shows who you are as a business and your products well.
Society1: Tell us about a project you are working on.
Christina: I’m currently working on a big branding project for a local company who want a fresh look that really represents them and their business style. I’ve also just completed an interior photography project for a interior designer who I work with a lot.
Society1: Do you have a favourite style of work?
Christina: No not really. I actually enjoy the variety and challenges that all the types of work I do provide.
Society1: Has the last year changed how you work? Do you think these changes will stay as you move forward?
Christina: 2020 didn’t really change how I work I still provide the same services I did just now I wear PPE, etc. The biggest impact was the restrictions put on us photographers last year and the fact that we weren’t allowed to work at times. That was really hard. I missed working, as crazy as that might sound, and it made me realise how lucky I am that I get to do photography full time as it’s genuinely something I love to do.
Society1: It is so lovely to see businesses around us starting to open up agains, what are you looking forward to as restrictions start easing?
Christina: I’m really looking forward to a bit more normality coming back, lunch with friends, good hot chocolates and cake, shopping at all the local stores again and someday not wearing a mask while working (wearing a mask and glasses and putting a camera to my face can really steam my glasses up)
Society1: One last question, we have to ask… why do you like working at Society1?
Christina: I’ve been to Society1 a few times with a women’s creative networking group I’m part of called CWS (Coffee Work Sleep Creatives) and always liked the space but as my cameras and editing is all at my home office I wasn’t sure if it would work for me but I decided I wanted to have a day to concentrate on my admin separate to my home office where I can focus and have no excuse to not do my admin, we all know how that goes, and I decided to take the plunge and join as the one day option was perfect for me. I love the change of view, pace and having the time to just focus and do the work I need too. I haven’t met many people yet but please do come and say hi if you see me.
Thank you Christina for sharing with us about you and your business. We love that you enjoy coming to Society1 and being part of our community.
