Coworker Projects: Emma Louise Gibson, ELG Consulting

By Catarina King, co-founder Society1.

We love hearing about amazing projects and collaborations at Society1. There are so many different types of businesses in our community with such a range of focus.

As part of our Coworker Projects series we caught up with Emma Louise Gibson, ELG Consulting.

Emma is passionate about working with companies to get the best from their branding and marketing strategy.

Emma has been a member of Society1 pretty much since we started, she is a vested member of the community and simply gets the idea of what coworking is about. She is full of energy and always happy to chat and share ideas and help other people around her. Aside from her brand and marketing consultancy, Emma is also a board member of Digital Lancashire and a trusted advisor to non-profit mental health organisation We are Hummingbird.

I caught up with Emma to find out about what she has been working on recently, she shared with us about a fantastic award winning project she has been involved in :

Society1: Tell us a bit about you and your business?

Emma: Hi! My name is Emma Louise Gibson, for 15+ years I’ve brought strategic, integrated thinking and a fresh perspective to the branding, marketing, and communications of the businesses and individuals I work with.

My career background is in full-service marketing agencies and in-house roles, I left the employment world 5 years ago, set up ELG Consulting, on a mission to bridge the gap between reactive and strategic marketing for the clients we work with.

Our approach is to be a dynamic, seamless extension to in-house marketing teams – driving our projects to a successful conclusion with pace and the end strategy always in mind.

Society1: Tell us about a project you are working on.

Emma: Ohhh it’s hard to pick one…! However, one I am so proud of and still supporting at a strategic level is Alpine.

Alpine Fire Engineers specialise in the Design, Project Management, and Maintenance of mechanical fire suppression systems.

The team approached us 18 months ago with the objective to reposition the brand in their marketplace and raise their visibility to increase market share in new target sectors – they had huge growth targets and were keen to understand how brand, marketing, and communications could support reach these.

We are so passionate about what has been achieved during the project! Alpine was awarded the 2020 Sunday Times Fast Track Ones to watch shortly after we went live with our new branding and strategy – which was a fantastic recognition of the progress the whole business was making as a collective.

The project to date has included:

– Full rebrand and management of rollout
– New, bespoke website and launch
– Marketing strategy and planning
– Office relocation and branding
– Company timeline installation using system pipework
– Industry PR coverage
– Industry awards submissions
– Service vans livery
– Corporate photography
– Targeted lead generation project
– Ongoing employee coaching (marketing focus)
– Employee engagement program rollout

The success of the project and output has been very much a collaborative approach with myself working closely on a weekly basis with Louise Plant, Service & Business Development Director, alongside other key decision-makers at Alpine, who have taken ownership and driven the change throughout the company – clients need to be committed and dedicated to strategic work for output to be achieved.

Here is a before and after of the website.

One last question, we have to ask… why do you like working at Society1?

Emma: The flexibility in working, better networking and collaboration opportunities.

Most members at S1 are goal-oriented, ambitious, and open-minded, so there are chances to meet great thinkers and entrepreneurs, with a mix of both start up’s and established business people.

S1 has a genuine community feel and support network, you feel safe to exchange your ideas and seek support from the welcoming community.

The space is open, light, cool, and creative, I truly feel inspired when I work in this space, I’m so proud to be a part of this local community, seeing its contribution and growth and watching the professional journeys of the people I’ve connected with here develop.

If you are interested in connecting with Emma or finding out more about how she could help your business you can find her on LinkedIn or Instagram here.

Emma collaborated with another one of our Society1 members, Mich Bondesio, on a project Mich was working on for her business, Growth Sessions.

This is one of the really powerful things about coworking. There is a community of likeminded peers at your finger tips. Friendship and support is so valuable when you are working on your own to achieve your goals.

Mich also featured in our Coworker Projects series about an online course she developed for Listenable. Read it here.
