Coworker Projects: Joanne Boyd, CJX Business Services

By Catarina King, co-founder Society1.

We love hearing about amazing projects and collaborations at Society1. There are so many different types of businesses in our community with such a range of focus.

As part of our Coworker Projects series we caught up with Joanne Boyd, CJX Business Services.

Joanne is passionate about working with companies and individuals achieve their goals through bespoke business support.

Joanne recently joined Society1 and comes to work here a least one day a week. She works from her home office and with clients most of the time, so comes to Society1 for a change of scenery, a place to focus and connect with the community here. She is a lovely person and a very welcome addition to our community. I can already see we will be hatching plans together soon enough.

I caught up with Joanne to find out about what she has been working on recently, she shared with us about a fantastic project she has been involved in :

Society1: Tell us a bit about you and your business?

JoanneI launched CJX Business Services in June, 2020.  I recently returned to Lancashire from the USA, where I spent 28 years in Senior Director, VP and Non-Executive Director (NED) roles. I have spent my career working in and with SMEs, national corporates, and Global Fortune 1000 companies. My goal is to deliver bespoke business growth and client journey experience services for Lancashire businesses across all sectors, including IT & technology, manufacturing, engineering, construction, transportation & Logistics and healthcare.  I am also a Boost (Lancashire Growth Hub) Business Coach and Business Mentor where I provide fully funded support to SMEs across our county.

Society1: Tell us about a project you are working on.

Joanne: I am currently working with a company based in Lancashire who provides Engineering Design, Project Management and Consultancy Services. They currently have a training academy who provides training services to both internal and external clients primarily focused on Lean Manufacturing, Health & Safety, Quality and Leadership/Management Training.   They are looking to turn this business in to a full P & L business and I am providing consultancy services, partly funded through Propel2Grow, to develop an on line Learning Management Solution (LMS) with experts in each of the key segments providing both online and in person training.  I have also secured funding through DigitalPlus, a UCLAN business which is part of the Boost program, providing full development of the LMS.  It is an exciting project and one that is a collaboration of funding and business support through Lancashire County Council.

It is so lovely to see businesses around us starting to open up agains, what are you looking forward to as restrictions start easing?

Joanne: First of all, I am really looking forward to being able to spend time with clients face to face versus zoom.  So much more can be accomplished in person and cannot wait for that personal interaction again.  I am also looking forward to being able to spend unrestricted time outdoors, going for lovely walks and bike rides with local biking clubs.  I have also signed up for a couple of pampering weekends which I am SO ready for.

One last question, we have to ask… why do you like working at Society1?

Joanne: First of all, it is so nice to get out of my home office.  Sometimes I feel like I am climbing the walls, particularly during lockdown.  Preston is only a short train ride away for me and being in an office with friendly faces and that personal interaction provides a little bit of normality in my work life.   As soon as I walk in the doors at Society1 I feel very relaxed, focused and look forward to a productive day ahead.

Thank you Joanne for sharing with us about you and your business. We love that you  enjoy coming to Society1 and being part of our community.
