Society1 Coworking Space Co-ordinator and Host
Society1 is actively seeking a friendly and people focused person to join our team in the role of Co-ordinator and Host. You will help us grow the community by creating a great member experience while executing sales and operational tasks with care and attention. This interesting and varied role will be supported by our experienced team. There is a lot of growth opportunity for the right candidate in this position. We welcome someone with creative ideas to bring to the role.
Society1 is a coworking space in the heart of Preston city centre. We are an independently owned and run flexible workspace. We strive to provide an inspiring environment to work in whilst fostering a friendly community in which everyone feels comfortable and supported to achieve their goals.
We have a wide mix of people working at Society1 ranging from freelancers, consultants and teams. We naturally attract a lot of creative and digital businesses however we are not exclusive to these sectors. Clients also book meeting rooms and event spaces for themselves and to host clients. We are proud of the community we have created at Society1 and we have strong links to our local Preston community too. We achieve all of this with a strong hospitality mindset.
The role of a Coworking Space Co-ordinator and Host:
The role of a Co-ordinator and Host in a coworking space is integral to the efficient running of the day for both the space operators and its members. They bring life into a growing community and help shape its culture.
Each day can be very varied in this position. There is a mix of responsibilities from opening up and locking up, greeting members and meeting room attendees. Setting up meetings and events, servicing refreshments and managing the front desk day to day. These tasks run alongside the core mission to help nurture and grow the Society1 community. The host should enjoy connecting with members and promote community interaction.
Once embedded into the role, there is also the opportunity to take an active role in the marketing and communications of the business including social media posts, blog writing and community focused content projects.
A successful coworking space depends on a friendly community environment and a strong, caring culture. A good community host can have a tremendous impact on this. Whilst it starts with introducing new people into the community, their duties extend far beyond this, touching every part of the client experience.
Attributes of a good Coworking space Co-ordinator and Host
A successful co-ordinator / host should enjoy connecting and engaging with people daily. Being curious and sharing their own experiences and interests can enrich these connections as they get to know members in the community.
The role is fitting for someone who enjoys working in a friendly and happy environment. Members love a sincere hello in the morning.
They should understand when to prioritise the needs of members and users of the space.
Be able to work in a dynamic environment where days and tasks vary from making cups of coffee, answering the phone, taking payments to engaging with members and creating content for social media.
Have a good understanding of technology, software and be willing to learn the management systems used at Society1.
Be interested in helping people.
The ideal candidate would have some hospitality / business operations experience.
Coworking Space Co-ordinator and Host responsibilities include but are not restricted to:
- Community Support:
- Assist in the creation of a friendly environment to facilitate high member satisfaction
- Represent Society1 values
- Be knowledgeable about Society1 and the local area and organisations
- Provides a smile and energy to members and visitors alike
- Facilities and Space Management
- Manage the day to day building operations and report any issues
- Set up and breakdown of the meeting rooms and event spaces
- Service meeting room clients with refreshments
- Maintain cleanliness during the working day
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed
- Handle mail and deliveries to Society1
- Business Development
- Conduct tours for prospective members
Current position –
Part time Coworking Co-ordinator and Host – January 2022
Hours: Circa 15 – 20 hours per week. Hours each week may vary slightly. Plus holiday cover for other staff members, where some weeks you could work more hours.
This is a role that could develop into a full time position for the right candidate.
